Student Self-Registration

Students who are not submitted through a school may self-register for an account.

Student Registration Details

Most Ohio high school seniors attend a public high school or a chartered private high school, and they are added to this portal by their school district or high school. If you attend one of these schools, you do NOT need to apply for the Governor's Merit Scholarship (GMS).

Homeschooled students and students who attend a Dropout Prevention and Recovery School or a Nonchartered Private School must apply here to be considered for GMS.

Again, you only need to apply for GMS if you are currently an Ohio high school senior and one of the following:

  • Homeschooled Student (HS)
  • Dropout Prevention and Recovery Student (DPRS)
  • Nonchartered Nonpublic School Student (NCNP)
  • Applying for Ohio GMS takes only a few minutes. After you submit the form we will email you a verification code to confirm your email address and finish creating your account.

Once your account has been created, you may login to complete or update your application for the Governor's Merit Scholarship (GMS).

Ohio high school seniors that attend Dropout Prevention and Recovery Schools (DPRS), Nonchartered Nonpublic Schools (NCNP), or are Homeschooled may register for an account to begin your Governor's Merit Scholarship application. After you submit the form, we will email you a verification code to confirm your email address and finish creating your account.

Once your account has been created, you may login to complete your application for the Governor's Merit Scholarship (GMS).

      Provide a composite ACT score, SAT score, or both along with a supporting document (PDF, JPG, or PNG, up to 5 MB each). The score(s) and supporting document(s) must show a composite score for your highest individual test administration, NOT a superscore. The Governor's Merit Scholarship program does NOT consider superscores. At least one score and supporting document is required.
